The Sox haven't been able to gin any ground int he playoff hunt, so tonight we'll be rooting for Clay Buchholz (15-5, 2.21) as he makes his push for he AL Cy Young Award.
Clay currently leads the AL with a 2.21 ERA, but he's tied for 3rd with Lester and Carl Pavano at 15 wins on the year. A win tonight, would put him in 2nd with David Price and Phil Hughes - who now owns a 4.10 ERA and is not in the CYA running.

For 5 innings Dice-K was lights out, I mean, total darkness. Well, almost: 2 hits, 0 runs, 4 strikeouts, NO WALKS (yes, you read that right), all on 70 pitches. By that time, he had been staked to a 5-0 lead. BALTIMORE -- Seeing Julio Lugo here in an Orioles uniform served as a reminder that the Red Sox are still paying the salaries of four players not wearing their uniform: Lugo, Billy Wagner, Boof Bonser, and Alex Gonzalez.

The giant fork was stuck in the Red Sox season tonight when the Orioles defeated them 5-2. Scutaro's costly error ruined a solid effort from Beckett and the offense could not get much going with runners in scoring position. The Sox lost more ground to the Yankees and could not capitalize on a Rays loss. Without Youk, Ells, or Pedey and with Scutaro and Beltre playing hurt the Sox have no real chance of reaching the playoffs.
