The Sox haven't been able to gin any ground int he playoff hunt, so tonight we'll be rooting for Clay Buchholz (15-5, 2.21) as he makes his push for he AL Cy Young Award.
Clay currently leads the AL with a 2.21 ERA, but he's tied for 3rd with Lester and Carl Pavano at 15 wins on the year. A win tonight, would put him in 2nd with David Price and Phil Hughes - who now owns a 4.10 ERA and is not in the CYA running.

Jon Lester was serving up singles and doubles in the first 2 innings like it was Mickey D's at lunchtime. In my opinion, "Paps" has been strugling to meet his standards. He doesn't seem to be at his prime when he was there in '07 when the Sox were crowned champs. He has blown five saves and is now ranked 9th overall out of closers in MLB. My personal opinion is that I don't have AS MUCH confidence as I did three years ago, when he would retire everyone in quick sucession. He just blew a three run lead against the Tigers, and doesn't seem to be in his prime form.
Quite frankly, if I were in Theo Epstein's shoes, I would be looking for someone different. I know the trading deadline has passed but if it were still before the deadline, look for free agents OR put him on the trading block, and ask for a closer. Maybe a veteran or call someone up and send Papelbon to the minors for a couple days and if the Sea Dogs or PawSox (wherever "I" might put him) put him the position to save, bring him in! Meanwhile up at the bigs, move Daniel Bard to a closing position.
